The Serenity Mesa Youth Recovery Center, located on Albuquerque's west mesa, provides long-term inpatient and transitional living services for youth overcoming addiction. Through housing, therapy, education, life training, and job placement, the program empowers teens to sustain sobriety and re-enter their communities as strong, independent members.
To support their growth, Baker A+D designed and delivered a modern, welcoming administration building, relocating all administrative functions from the previously congested residential building.
The new facility features spacious offices and meeting rooms, private therapy spaces, administrative showers for overnight staff, a proper welcome desk and waiting area, and outdoor gathering areas. Positioned on the edge of the mesa, the design embraces expansive views and high visibility, giving the center a bold presence within the community and an iconic structure that reflects the program’s impact.
An oversized butterfly roof marks the main entry, while a warm and durable material palette—wood, polished concrete, cement board, steel, quartz, and serene accent blues—ties the building to the center’s branding. At its core is a bright, open collaboration space, designed as the heart of the building where staff can meet and recharge. Custom steel awnings and a striking reception desk further define the space.
Construction was completed in [2025], and the new building now stands as a testament to Serenity Mesa’s mission and its role in transforming lives.
